Make your moments magical, safely & beautifully
Every Fir & Flicker candle is crafted with care, and with the right candle habits, you’ll enjoy a cleaner burn, a stronger scent, and a longer-lasting glow.
Here’s how to get the most from your candle…
1. Trim your wooden wick
Before each burn, gently trim the wooden wick to around 5mm.
This helps your candle ignite easily, burn cleanly, and produce that beautiful, soft crackle. You can pinch off the charred wood between fingers once cooled or use wick trimmers.
2. Let the first burn set the tone
For your first burn, allow the candle to create a full melt pool, melting right to the edges.
This usually takes 2–3 hours and prevents tunneling, ensuring an even, long-lasting burn.
3. Burn for 2-4 hours at a time
Wooden wicks perform best with steady burns.
Avoid lighting for less than 1 hour or more than 4 hours.
4. Keep your candle away from drafts
A draft can cause uneven burning, soot, or the flame to extinguish early. Choose a safe, steady surface away from open windows, fans, or vents.
5. Remove any debris
Before relighting, ensure no debris or wick remnants are left in the wax.
A clean melt pool = a safer, better burn.
6. Know when it’s time to stop
When about 1 cm of wax is left, stop burning your candle.
This protects the glass from overheating and ensures safe use.
7. Protect your surfaces
Always place your candle on a heat resistant, flat and stable surface, especially during long burns.
8. Safety reminders
For your wellbeing, please remember:
